Solomon in Proverbs 21:17 states "Those who love pleasure become poor; those who love wine and luxury will never be rich."
The "I've got to have it" or I won't be happy ideal seems to pervade our culture and, I admit, even my own life and its pursuits. I am re-examining what really brings happiness and peace to my life. I don't have any conclusions except that it is not more "stuff".
Solomon's conclusion near the end of his life was "I looked at everything I had worked so hard to accomplish, it was all so meaningless" (Ecclesiastes 2:11)
On a lighter note, I am plotting this year's garden planting and a new addition the the chicken coop. Hopefully they will not be meaningless activities.
